The seven times Tour de France winner; Lance Armstrong blew away the field on the bike to win Ironman 70.3 Florida by over 10mins from runner-up Maxim Kriat of Ukraine.

Irish Triathletes have been busy at the international races this week, as well as Bryan McCrystal 12th in Ironman Lanzarote. Eimear Mullan, David Vaughan and Aileen Morrison were all racing.

Bryan McCrystal (Setanta Tri / Emerald racing) gets a top ten finish in his first ever Ironman Triathlon in Lanzarote. Bryan used the 2nd fastest bike split to move up into the top ten after the bike and finished it off with a 3:09 marathon to finish 12th overall.

In the long race top Irish Pro Bryan Keane made a very welcome re-appearance to competition after a break of 9 months since a bad traffic accident left him out of action. He made his re-appearance a winning one getting the better of Stephen Earley on the second run lap with 2011 Howth Olympic Plus Triathlon winner Kevin Thornton back in 3rd.

The Irish National Championships are always a hard race with a top class field and it can be anybodies race on the day. The quality of the field in Valentia on Saturday ……

Distances were 3.5km run, 20km cycle, 3.5km run.

Results from the Quiet Man Sprint Triathlon organised by Tri Lakes Triathlon club in Cong on the shores of lough Corrib.

The big race this week was down in Connemara for the Connemara Adventure Challenge organised by the Galeforce West team.
