Limerick Duathlon Race 2 – Photos & Results

Snow was the order of the day. It caused the cancellation of the Wheelworx Naas Duathlon, but couldn’t stop Limerick Triathlon Club’s Duathlon. Niall Collins (Limerick Triathlon) improved on his 5th position in race one to add yet another Limerick Duathlon win to his trophy cabinet. Eilis Connery (Belpark Tri Club) led from start to finish to improve on her 3rd position in Naas earlier this month. Eamonn Horgan (Limerick Triathlon) races down the start hill to open a 20second lead over the opening run, but paid for this early speed on the bike.

Eilis Connery (Belpark) showing that's she the fastest runner in Duathlon, with only a hand full of men ahead of her on the first run.

Micheal O’Brien (Limerick) was 2nd onto the bike.

Niall Collins (Limerick Triathlon), who has won this race several times over the last few years, showed his pace judjement starting the bike in 3rd position.

Keith Heary (Carlow Triathlon) was 4th onto the bike, but soon took the lead as he produced the fastest bike split of the day.

The conditions took a few causalities.

Collins wins the sprint up the final hill over O’Brien, to win by 4 seconds.

Heary finishes 3rd after being caught by Collins and O'Brien on the final run.

Horgan and Stephenson were neck and neck starting the final run.

Stephenson who finished ahead of Horgan in the first race had to settle for 3rd today as Horgan ran into 2nd place.

Connery on top of the Women's podium, a big step up from her 3rd place in Naas last month.
