The spring sunshine was out for the second Wheelworx Naas Duathlon. Adam Speer set about repeating his win for the first Naas Duathlon, but Kevin Donagher used his bike racing skills to pull away on the bike. A big improvement from 6th place in the first Duathlon. Bronagh ni Bhriain added yet another win in the women’s race.

Adam Speer (tri 24/7) showed his intentions from the gun (No. 858)
Speer had opened up a clear lead by the end of the first run.
2nd, 3rd & 4th spot at T1. The chase pack was lead by Gavin Crawford (Tri 24/7), Mariusz Olejniczak and significantly included Kevin Donagher (Belpark)
Aoife O'Connor led the women's race into T1.
Marie Keane (Naas Tri Club) was a comfortable 2nd into T1.
Last month's 2nd place finisher Bronagh NiBhriain (Wheelworx/Piranha) looked comfortable in 3rd place on the first run, but was tracked all the way by Mary Daly (Midland Tri) in the red suit.
Kevin Donagher caught Speer at 5km on the cycle. Speer said "I was able to hold on until half way, but he just put more and more time into me on every descent".
Last month's winner, Speers was in 2nd place off the bike, as he was last month.

Eddie Brennan (Belpark Tri Club) had climbed up to 6th place during the bike leg.

Mary Daly in 2nd place, showing that she can still beat most women half her age.
The battle for 3rd was tight all the way. Aoife O'Connor (in purple) lead only slightly from Grainne Connor (in red) and Barbara O'Hanrahan (behind in orange).

Onto the run, Donagher ran to avoid fast finisheing Speer.

NiBhriain cruised around to seal yet another win.
Daly used her strong run to secure 2nd place.
O'Connor got away from the chasing women to finish 3rd.
O'Hanrahan moved from 5th up to 4th on the final run.
Grainne Connor (Belpark) lost some time in transtition, but still finished in 5th spot.
The sunshine brought out the summer fun atmosphere.
Next week’s Sportsman Duathlon is shaping up to be the most competitive of the season so far. Bryan McCrystal has got the current leaders of the Wheelworx Series (Adam Speer), the Alive Outside Series (Niall Sommers) and Sportsman Series (John Caffrey) all racing. It should be interesting!!!
