Today’s Galway Triathlon was the first in the Tri3 Series. The course used much of the old Galway triathlon route, which was the Irish Triathlon Championships in 2005, before it was discontinued by Galway tri club.
Eoin Cummins added another convincing win to his recent Joey Hannon Triathlon victory, while Edel Tighe took the women’s victory. Photos below are courtesy of Divmedia and more can be seen at the race gallery here.

The photo above of number 16 clearly shows that he has not securely fastened his helmet, is this not a penalty or DQ ? It was probably a TI official at the T1 exit so they didn’t bother to check !
TI Marshalls, Rider 16 was approaching the dismount line as that photo was taken and 20 yards later he was stopped for a time penalty and to refasten the helmet by the race referee. So I guess they did bother to check after all! Mick
