Close to 1,000 athletes made the trip to Achill for adventure, ROAR style. Padraig Marrey (Tri Lakes Tri Club) win in Achill capped off a great season, which included the Swinford 1/2 Ironman, a new Galway to Limerick TT record and most importantly GaelForce West. Niall Somers (Belpark) was back in racing form and finished 2nd ahead of Tom O’Dowd (Liquid Motion Tri Club). Derval Devany repeated her WAR and GaelForce success with victory today. She was just too fast for the recent HellFire winner Emma Donlan and Laura O’Driscoll (Setanta Tri).
The Achill ROAR consisted of an 16km off road run, 45km cycle then a choice of an 800m swim or 2.6km canoe. The Sport course was half those distances, approx.
