Courtown Harbour was once again the venue for the 3rd Eireman X – off road triathlon. The weather was perfect for racing – there wasn’t a ripple in the sea and the ground was dry. Transition was moved to a more spectator friendly area closer to the village and the crowds gathered to see what all this off-road Triathlon fuss was about. The participants had plenty of support as they exited the swim and covered the 2 laps of “varied” terrain on their mountain bikes. 
The bike course has a bit of everything, long straights on wide and narrow woodland paths, rivers to run through carrying your bike and some technical stuff to show your skills. The course is not essentially difficult the more comfortable you are on your bike the faster you can go. The run is real cross country: off road and crossing and jumping into 3 rivers (some waist high).
Trevor Woods was once again on the podium beating his previous year’s time by over 4mins. Trevor was pushed hard by James Davenport. Both exited transition on the run at the same time but Woods did the damage in the woods to take the 2010 title. The women’s section was an exciting and closely contested battle. Top 3 finishers came in within a minute of each other. Susan Seager managed to hold her position to take the flag following quickly by Linda Marijke Haug and Lisa McMahon.
Race organisers would like to thank OCM construction for the transition kit, Arklow Sea scouts, Red Cross, Realt na Mara GAA club, Forest Park leisure centre and Courtown Village for allowing us to stage the race.
