Paratriathlete Gold in Edinburgh

Caterine Walsh has won Ireland’s first gold at the ITU World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh. Cat and her pilot Francine Meehan won the Cat 6 classification for visually impaired athletes. Speaking after the win, Walsh said, “We come from a cycling background, so we were really pleased to stay with the British girls on the first run. I’m delighted with that, it’s fantastic.”  They failed to mention that their bike split was 2nd overall, with only one men’s team ahead of them.  Not content with their win, they’ve got another bike race in Edinburgh on Saturday.
