WAR: Wicklow Adventure Race – Glenmalure

Glenmalure Valley for the setting for the second WAR: Wicklow Adventure Race. The race took in a run over Kirakee mountain then cycles over the iconic Shay Elliott and Slieve Mann climbs, with a second run over Croaghanmoira mountain, before finishing with a river run and obstacle course.

WAR-Glenmalure was the final race in the Irish Adventure Race series and the men’s winner Niall Somers (Belpark) took the overall series victory as well as his WAR victory.  Former Irish international mountain biker Beth McCluskey took the women’s title in convincing style, finishing 7th overall.

Beth McCluskey excelled on the cycle stages.

Niall Somers was 2nd on the first ascent of Croghanmoira, but took the lead on the climb back over the summit.
