Quote from the offical cheerer Joanne Murphy, sums up a wet but great day in Galway at the first Ironman 70.3 Ireland.
“It’s a glamourous job working out of the back of a van announcing athletes as they progress through a race! What a fantastic day, such an honour to be part of the first IM 70.3 event in Ireland encouraging athletes from around the world to make their way to the finish line and helping them over it. Congratulations to everyone involved, to all my fellow GTC members & athletes I’ve met over the past few days & weeks! We’ll party tonight… If we can stay awake!”
Due to weather conditions the swim was shortened to 750m, but the bike remained the full 90km and the run 21.1km.
