Challenge Roth triathlon is on this weekend. Challenge Roth is widely regarded as the fastest full distance triathlon (3.8km swim, 180km cycle, 42.2km run) in the world. There will be a number of Irish triathletes chasing fast times.
Matt came so close to breaking the old Irish Ironman record at his first ever ironman in Austria last year. Matt then a great performance in Hawaii at the world champs last October. So on Roth’s fast course, we may see records falling.
Brian has probably won more triathlons than any other Irishman, since he won his very triathlon in 2000. Racing ITU style draft legal racing Brian represented Northern Ireland at the 2006 Commonwealth games in Melbourne, where he finished one place behind Gavin Noble. With a 9:05 in Roth last year, a good day could see Brian using his run to chase down Matt.
London base Rory Maguire with a pb over this distance of 9:06 will in the mix with those targeting the sub 9 hour mark and the qualification slot for the world championships in Hawaii this October.
Lets hope that the conditions are faster than at Ironman Austria last weekend for all the athletes racing Roth and the Frankfurt Ironman.
Roth Triathlon is also famous for the cheering crowds along Solarer Berg. This is the photo above and the clip below.
