triAthlone Olympic, Sprint & Tri-a-Tri Results & Photos

There was a stacked field for the Irish Triathlon Championships (Sprint Distance) in Athlone today. Gavin Noble (Specialized Factory Racing) and Aoife Lynch (Base2Race/Pulse) are the new sprint champions. Bryan McCrystal (Setanta/Primera TBUK) had almost an 11min margin of victory in the Olympic, with Deirdre O’Toole (Belpark) taking the women’s Olympic by 4mins from her club mate Ellen Murphy (Belpark).

Shaw & Keane are 8th & 9th in Subic Bay ITU Triathlon Asian Cup

The Philippines was the venue for Bryan Keane’s return to international triathlon racing. Both Bryan Keane and Ben Shaw were in the first pack on the swim and bike and managed to stay within 90sec of winner and 2005 Triathlon World Champs silver medalist Riot Hug from Switzerland. These results will help to gain starting slots at World Cup races, where valuable Olympic qualifying points can be collected.
