Murphy wins in Kenya – McCrystal 7th in Lanzarote

Two quality results from the Irish Triathletes breaking into the international ranks. Conor Murphy won the Mombasa ITU Triathlon African Cup, a race which Emma Davis won back in 2007. Bryan McCrystal finished 7th in a stacked field at the Lanzarote ‘Ocean Lava’ half-ironman distance triathlon.

Bryan McCrystal (Setanta tri/Primera Sports) has just finished 2nd at TriStar Estonia. The TriStar 111 series distances are 1km swim, 100km cycle, 10km run. Beast of the East Triathlon – Lough Dan – Wicklow tri Club

Numbers may have been down, but the quality of the men’s field was sky high as ever at Lough Dan for the Beast of the East olympic distance triathlon.

At the sharp end of the swim, Stephen Early (Belpark) led Bjorn Ludick (Base2Race/Active multisport) out of the still waters of Lough Dan. Ludick soon took the lead and was extending it on the bike leg.

triAthlone Olympic, Sprint & Tri-a-Tri Results & Photos

There was a stacked field for the Irish Triathlon Championships (Sprint Distance) in Athlone today. Gavin Noble (Specialized Factory Racing) and Aoife Lynch (Base2Race/Pulse) are the new sprint champions. Bryan McCrystal (Setanta/Primera TBUK) had almost an 11min margin of victory in the Olympic, with Deirdre O’Toole (Belpark) taking the women’s Olympic by 4mins from her club mate Ellen Murphy (Belpark).
