Owen Cummins biked away from Conor Murphy to take the Joey Hannan men’s title today, while local favorite and former winner Brian Jenkins biked and ran well to take 3rd. Waterford Triathlon Club stole the show at the first Crystal Clear Triathlon, taking home four of the top 5 spots in the men’s race. Only for Wexford Wheelers cyclist Kevin Shelly they would have had a clean sweep. Shelly recently won the time trial in the Gorey 3-Day, so not surprisingly posted the fastest bike split. Local favorite Noelie Kavanagh (Wicklow Tri) pulled away on the bike to take his first win of the year, just in time for WAR next weekend. Eilis Connery (Belpark) picked up her 3rd win this year. Colin Bolger (Pulse) picked up his 3rd Triathlon Inter-Vasities today, just ahead of his brother Neil Bolger (Pulse), while last year’s champion James Davenport was hampered by a run injury, which saw him drop from 2nd to 8th on the 5km run.
